BANNIERE-Women-directors

Tuesday, March 8, 2016 LOS ANGELES, CA – Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK), the performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles is pleased to celebrate women’s day by screening 6 short films directed by women in Los Angeles as part of its public performing arts series on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.

The evening’s format will be presented in two 50 minutes long programs. There will be a 15-minute intermission, which will include complimentary wine and cheese There will be a Q & A with some of the films directors. All films in French with English subtitles.

For the first year, TRK will partner with the French non-profit organization EROÏN to celebrate Women’s Day. Eroïn is an association created in 2014 by Audrey Clinet, aiming to promote and value women’s creation in cinema industry. Even if the number of films directed by women has risen, the number of women filmmakers in festivals remains minimal. This is why EROÏN devotes itself to promote women behind the camera.

Audrey Clinet developed the idea of EROÏN – choosing nine films per year directed by women, French and foreign, in all genres from comedy to sci-fi, and not only about women’s issues. “I want to bring new energy, to include everyone, not close the door to men.” Most of all, “I want to disprove the idea that women are less talented,” she says. This is a common belief that penalizes women: producers are more hesitant to fund their projects, so they have more difficulty getting films made.

French painter artist Armelle Falliex will exhibit “Remarkable women project”, a series of canvas that highlight women who, in the past, were key contributors to the improvement of their living conditions and fought for their rights.

Screened films on March 8 will include drama, drama comedy and comedy, see program on TRK website.

The event begins at 7:30pm at Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz, which is located at 10361 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles CA 90064 (310-286-0553).

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and can be purchased here. For information about Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz, please visit www.theatreraymondkabbaz.com.
